Project SpaceÌý
This exhibition showcases a selection of outstanding works made by students aged 14–18 from across the UK. They are creative responses to É»å´Ç³Ü²¹°ù»å Manet51²è¹Ý¶ù famous painting A Bar at the Folies-Bergère (1882) in The Courtauld collection. Ìý
Reworking Manet, a live project brief was developed by The Courtauld51²è¹Ý¶ù Learning team in collaboration with a group of young people and Turner Prize-winning artist and Courtauld alumnus, Jeremy Deller. It opened to UK wide submissions 2023.ÌýÌý
Manet51²è¹Ý¶ù painting was chosen as the starting point because of its continued relevance to contemporary society. These reworkings explore a wealth of themes drawn from the painting and seek to raise important issues in our everyday lives. Ìý
The Courtauld51²è¹Ý¶ù Schools and Young People51²è¹Ý¶ù programmes aim to increase the number of young people in the UK with access to art and art history. These free programmes inspire learning and, most importantly, invite over 8,000 young people from all backgrounds each year, to participate in and shape the field of art history. Ìý
Reworking Manet is the first exhibition of work by students taking part in these programmes to be displayed in The Courtauld Gallery since it reopened in November 2021.  â¶Ä¯ÌýÌý
